A fantastic original 1880’s Thonet no.4 bentwood armchair. This is their iconic chair from the front of their early catalogues. Originally commissioned design for the Cafe Daum in Vienna it soon became a very popular model of theirs although very few of the originals survive today, with them being in museums and private collections. They did do a later re-run on them but with different front legs and then in the late 20thC they started producing them again. The seat has recently been traditionally recaned.
Measures 92cm high by 42cm wide and 42 cm deep with the seat being 47cm high.
