A very cool piece of 19thC Welsh folk art history. A solid carved block of slate that has roundels carved into its sides, apotropaic daisy wheels to the top and the brass handle to the top. These were usually carved by slate & coal miners and sold as a way to get extra income for the family.
Measures 7.5cm high by 11cm deep and 15.5cm wide.
